Patiently i am waiting for news if they passed the FMA..
Here is a good article about whats going on right nowhttp://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/07/14/samesex.marriage/index.html
I have some choice snippets that I would love to point out :)Some Democratic senators called the GOP attempt to pass the amendment, which some Republicans say is needed to defend and preserve traditional marriage in the United States, akin to gay bashing.
It is gay bashing!!! Ugh people drive me nuts, especially conservitive republicans and anyone who supports this. But in the last two days, a number of Republicans have indicated they will not vote for the measure, leaving GOP leaders red-faced over their failure to muster support.
HAHAHA dumbasses are losing ground. Even though President Bush is supporting this, people are backing out because of the uproar it is causing!SEEMS LIKE REPUBLICANS HAVE SOME SKELETONS AND PEOPLE IN THEIR CLOSETS AS WELL......CHECK OUT THIS ARTICLE http://www.planetout.com/news/feature.html?sernum=906
Again..snippets i'd love to point out that i found fascinating.."Washington is engaged in a conspiracy to cover up the fact that many members of Congress and their staffers are gay men and lesbians," insists Michael Rogers, the D.C. activist who unearthed Tolman's youthful indiscretion. "We can't sit around and condone the fact that lots of us are complicit in the conspiracy."
Hmm interesting eh? Washington REPUBLICANS who are trying to pass this FMA bullshit are actually trying to hide the fact that there ARE gays/lesbians who work for them!To drive home the point, Rogers and his accomplice, John Aravosis, are exposing a laundry list of would-be scandals they charge demonstrate the hypocrisy of many FMA advocates. Others include a right-wing member of the House and FMA supporter with a taste for gay phone sex as well as a leading male GOP senatorial strategist whose long-time partner happens to be of the same sex. Aravosis' group, Equality Campaign, paid for a full-page ad in the July 9 Washington Blade. "FOR YEARS OUR SILENCE HAS PROTECTED YOU," the ad reads ominously. "TODAY THAT PROTECTION ENDS."
Airing dirty laundry of a hypocritical party..the republicans...I am SO glad they put this message in the Washington Blade. Basically its saying that We're outting all the facist/hypocrites who are supposedly supporting this FMA but are gay/lesbian themselves. GOOD FOR THEM!it does shine a light on one of the conservative movement's worst-kept secrets even as it steps up its anti-gay agenda: Gay men and lesbians remain firmly ensconced in nearly every aspect of its political operations, from the upper echelons of the White House to right-wing think tanks.
Need i say more?By day they work quietly among the nation's leading anti-gay politicians, while at night and on the weekends they enjoy the freedom offered by Dupont Circle, the thriving gay neighborhood in the heart of the city, and Rehoboth Beach, the gay resort area in Delaware. What would otherwise be considered the innocent diversions of the capitol's social life suddenly have become fodder in an emotional fight over the definition of marriage.
Wow its modern day superheros...as it were..But Aravosis argues that desperate times require desperate measures. Comparing support for FMA to pointing a loaded gun at gays and lesbians, he says the only response is an aggressive counterattack. "Look, if I was walking down the street with my boyfriend, and someone pointed a gun at him, I could be forced to kill that person," he says. "It's a terrible price to pay, taking a life, but I would pull the trigger."
I would do the same thing in their situation. I think that the HRC and GLBT is doing a fantastic job right now. And with ALL OF OUR SUPPORT it'll be even better!! :)
